IN2030 Summer University 2021
Perspectives 2030: Challenges and Opportunities ahead

Wednesday 1st September to Friday 3rd September

This year’s Summer University meeting will provide the opportunity to review the results of recent online discussions in the Network, looking long term at issues of strategic interest both in the UK and on the continent and stimulate innovative thinking across sectors from a geopolitical, digital, economic, sustainable and demographic dimension. A wide range of different perspectives including UK, US and European views will be reflected in the presentations, providing where possible political leadership to encourage debate.

Will the decade ahead be reminiscent of the roaring 1920’s which followed the Spanish flu pandemic, seeing the unleashing of pent-up energies? Or will the overwhelming debt and climate challenges keep the West pinned down while Asia booms?

The proposed programme will take place online over a 3 day period, running from Wednesday 1st and Friday 3rd September. All sessions are free to register but some sessions are by invitation only.

It is structured in such a way to encourage individual contributions from participants, not just to listen to speakers on the panels themselves. It is intended to stimulate innovative thinking across sectors from a geopolitical, digital, economic, sustainable and demographic dimension.

The Summer University is organised in cooperation with the
Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies.
